Sh. 1916 J. Burgess Rasmie's Smaa Murr (8 Aapril):
Every jantleman is no taekket wi a sylk hat.

[The form derives from 17th c. Eng. pronunciations and corresponds to the form jaunty from Gentie, as an attempt to represent the Fr. pronunciation of gentil.]
