†KAISART, n. Also kaizar, keysart. [′kesərt, -zərt]
1. A cheese-vat, or wooden vessel in which the curds are pressed and formed into cheese (n.Sc. 1808 Jam.).
2. A frame on which cheeses are suspended until they mature (Fif. 1825 Jam., kaizar, keysart), or on which bannocks are hung up above the kitchen table or dresser (Rxb. a.1838 Jam. MSS. XI. 92).
