KARLEN BOOK, n.phr. Also carlin' book. The book or register in which the boat's catch of fish, or the number of fish taken by each fisherman, was entered.Bch. 1891 Trans. Bch. Field Club II. 15:
Fishermen [used] to keep a carlin' book, in which the number of fish taken by each fisherman was daily entered.
