Withoot de love, withoot the light o' dee laich the ceulkie wad be dark an' life wadna be wirt livan.
Sh. 1913 Ib. VI. i. 4:
Some will greet and some will laich.
Ork. 1927 Peace's Almanac 134:
I canna had fae laichin' ower 'is atgans.

[The form represents a conflation of Norw. le, O.N. hlæja, id., with Sc. Lauch, v.]
