NAB, n. Also nabb. [nɑb]
1. A peg or nail on which to hang things (Cld. 1880 Jam.; Ags., Ayr., Uls. 1963); a Cruik or hook on which a door or gate is hung. Also in Yks. dial.Abd. 1705 Abd. Jnl. N. & Q. VI. 274:
A pair great bands to the gate, and tuo pairs small bands and nabbs thereto.
2. The point of a fish-hook (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)).
