NICKER, v., n. Also nikker, nikir (Sh.).

I. v. 1. To crack, clatter, make a clicking sound, to creak (Sh. 1964).Abd.4 1931:
Speed ye, gin I haed a haud o' ye , I'se gar yer hips nicker.

2. To propel or fire (a marble).Abd. 1962 Abd. Ev. Express (9 Nov.):
A gran' han' at nickerin the bools.

II. n. A clatter, rapping sound, e.g. the crackling of wooden articles when disturbed (Sh. 1881 Williamson MSS.); a creak (Sh. 1964).
