SHARL, n. Also shaarl, sharle, sjar(re)l (Jak.). A hinge, now only in comb. sharl-pin, a pin or pivot on which the loop of a hinge turns, esp. on an old-fashioned type of door (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1914 Angus Gl.; I.Sc. 1970). [ʃɑrl]Sh. 1898 “Junda” Klingrahool 5:
