TOWTER, n. The flag or pennant on a marker buoy at the end of a fleet of herring-nets or fishing-lines, a dan (Bwk. 1972). Combs.: towter-stane, a stone used as a sinker for this, towter-string, the cable by which the stone was attached (Id.).
