WASTIE, n. A reduced dim. form of a farm-name of which Wast(er) is an element, applied in Sc. usage to the owner or tenant (ne.Sc. 1973). Cf. Eastie, n.Abd. 1877 W. Alexander Rural Life 18:
Wastie [the farmer of Westertown] described a form, which he judged to be that of his pawky neighbour Eastie [the farmer of Eastertown], passing along the head-rig on the skyline.
