Green Pear of Yair; sweet, juicy, and melting; of a moderate size; takes its name from Yair, on Tweed-side, where it was first discovered.Sc. 1814 J. Sinclair Agric. Scot. App. I. 441:
Yair, or Green Pear of the Yair. This is a sweet juicy pear; has not much flavour, but the tree is a good bearer, as a standard or espalier.
