Banket, Bancat, Banquet, n. Also: bankett, -eit, -it, -itt, bancket, bancett; bankat(t, bankcat; bankquet, bancquett, banqhet, banquit. [Late ME. banket (1483), e.m.E. bancquet, banquet, F. banquet.] A feast of a sumptuous or ceremonial character. Also fig., and attrib. with day.(a) a1499 Contempl. Sinn. 1511.
