Cheris, Chereis, v. Also: cherise, cherys(e, cherreisch. [ME. cheris(e, -ys(e, -yce, etc., variant of cherische, -ysche, etc., OF. cheriss-, extended stem of cherir.] tr. To cherish; to treat or handle kindly.(a) 1456 Hay I. 228/20.
