Hurting, vbl. n. Also: hurtynge, -yn(e, hurtting, huirting, hourting; ortyng. [e.m.E. hurting, ME. hortynge, hurtunge (a 1225).] Hurting, in the senses of Hurt v. a. Injuring (bodily), wounding. Also, a bodily injury, a wound. b. Harming generally; wronging; causing detriment; damaging. c. Being damaged.a. a1400 Legends of the Saints xix. 552.
