Outman, n. Also: owt-, ut- and plur. -men, (-mennis). [North. e.m.E. (once) out-man (c 1570); and cf. also Out-folkis n. pl., Outintounisman n., outlandis man, Outlandis a., and Inman n.] In the Forth-Tay region and in Prestwick: A man coming from outside the community or burgh, an outsider.sing. 1476 Prestwick B.
