[ME and e.m.E. pured(e, purde (1365), also (15th c.) purid, -yd, purified, refined (14th c.), (of fur) trimmed or cut down (1365), ellipt. as n. in pured de gray (1402), pured, -yd ‘pured’ miniver (c1435), f. pure v. to purify: cf. med.
