Quhite-breid, Quhyt(e)-bred(e, -breid, n. Also: whyt- and -bread. [Late north. ME qwhyte brede (c1450), whyte breed (a1534) white bread; or var. of Quhet(e)-bred(e n. Cf. Quhit(t)-breid n.] a. White bread, made of fine wheaten flour. b. Wheaten bread. = Quhet(e)-bred(e.Also, once, a loaf (of bread).In the later quots. ambiguity is possible between quhite-brede and quhete-brede, since quhite, quhit(t, etc. became common varr. of Quhet(e n. in the 16th c.(1) 14..
