Reced(e, -ceid, v. [e.m.E. recede to fall away (in allegiance or adherence) from a person (Caxton), reysede to depart, retire, etc. (c1485), recead (1576), L. recēdere to go back.] intr. a. Of a bondman: To depart from (fra) the lord to whom he is bound; to leave. b. To recede … quyt ((away) fra an accuser), to go away, or depart, free of guilt from the presence of pursuer and assise, the charge brought having failed in some respect; to depart innocent.
