(Rin-jest,) Rine-, Rind-jest, n. [Rin v.1 and Jeist n. The precise force of the first element is not certain, but perh. it indicates continuity, as extending from one wall to the other.] A beam running at right angles to the rafter couples; a purlin. —1670 Aberd. B. Rec. IV 268.
