Ry-mele, -meill, n. Also: rye- and -mell, -maill. [ME rye-mele (once, a1400, ? as a calque of MSw. roghmiöl). Cf. also 17th c. Eng. rie meal (1662), Icel. rúgmjöl, Norw. rugmjöl, Dan. rugmel.] Meal made from rye. Also attrib.1479–80 (c1580) Edinb. B. Rec. I 37.
