Stewing, -en, Steuing, Stueing, vbl. n. [17th c. Eng. stewing (1618). Cf. late ME stue v. (c1420) in the same sense.] Only comb. or attrib. a. (Peicis (of meat)) for stewing. b. attrib. (A dische, pan) in which stewing takes place. Cf. Stoving ppl. adj. —a. 1588 Burntisland B. Ct. 15 Oct.
