Est, Eist, adj. Also: hest, eyst, eest. [ME. est, OE. éast- in éastdǽl, éasthealf, etc.] Situated in the east; eastern.Early examples in place-names are Estfulhope (c 1240), Estcrag (1278), Est Nesebit (1296), Estschelys (1359), Estwod (1373).(a) 1375 Barb. xvii. 187.
