Pertinent, n. and a. Also: pertyn-, -ten-; -tein-, -tien-; -tan-; -tain-; partin- and -ente, -end, -ant. [Late ME. and e.m.E. pertinent (Lydgate), -tynent (Caxton), e.m.E. partinent (1539), adj. A. noun. Something which belongs to, or is connected with, something larger or more important; chiefly, an adjunct to property.Chiefly plur.See the note to Pertinence n.
