Stude mere, n. Also: stud(e)meir, stud meer, stuid(e) meir, stood meir, -mear(e, steid-meir. [ME and e.m.E. stod mere (Ancr. R.), studmer (1404), studmare (1547); Stud(e n. and Mere n.2] A mare kept for breeding, a brood-mare.(a) a1500 Henr. Fab. 991 (Bass.).
