Rebellio(u)n(e, n. Also: -(ie)oun, -yown. [ME and e.m.E. rebellion (Rolle), -ioun (Wyclif), F. rébellion (14th c.), L. rebelliōn-.] Rebellion, in various usual senses.
1. Resistance, or overt opposition, to a ruler or established government; insurrection or revolt. b. A particular instance of this. 1409 Exchequer Rolls IV ccxi.
