Refound, -fond(e, Refund, v.1 Also: ra- and -founde, -fownd, -fount; funde, fwnd. P.p. also refowundit. [ME (1386) and late ME (a 1450) refunde(n to pour back, give back; 17th c. Eng. also refund to make repayment (1655), OF refunder, -fonder, L. refundere f. fundere to pour.-o(u)-, -ow- forms only Sc.]
1. tr. To pay back, refund or restore (an amount of money, goods, etc. due) (to, till a person, corporation or cause); to render (bak, also in) (agane). Also fig.(1) 1438 Antiq. Aberd. & B. III 265.
