Repentance, -ence, n. Also: rapent-, repend- and -ans, -aunce. [ME and e.m.E. repentanse (Cursor M.), -aunce (Manning), F. repentance (12th c. in Hatz.-Darm.).] Repentance.

a. The act of repenting; sorrow or regret for sin, or for past actions or conduct. b.
