Autentik, Attentik, A(u)ctentik, a. Also: autentyk(e, -ike, autentic(k, -ict, -ique; awtentyk, -ik(e; altentik; attentyk, -ic(k, at(t)entict; actentic; auctentyk, -ic(k. [ME. and e.m.E. autentik(e, autentyk(e, auctentyke, etc., OF. autentique, med. L. autenticus, L. authenticus.]
1. Authoritative; entitled to credit; trustworthy, reliable. a.
