BAIBLE, v. To drink carelessly (Sc. 1818 Sawers). [bebl + ɛ]w.Sc. 1887 Jam.6:
Baible, to sip often, tipple; also, to drink carelessly or with spilling.
Kcb.3 1929:
Baible, to drink carelessly so as to spill a portion of the liquor on the breast; to drink like a child.

[Sc. form of Eng. bibble, from bib, a cloth placed under a child's chin. Phs. from Lat. bibere, to drink. Cf. Sc. Beb(b).]
