BAIKEN, ppl. of v. bake. In the 18th cent. the perukes were sent to the bakers for the process of tightening the curls, which were wound round hot pipe-clay rollers and then heated in the oven. (See Notes and Queries 2 Jan., 6 Feb., 1932.)Sc. 1702 Acc. Bk. Sir J. Foulis (S.H.S. 1894) 312:
