[Jak. gives a similar meaning s.v. brok, and says: “Prob. the same word as Norw. braaka, broka, to break; . . . to be noisy.” Cf. Mod.Icel. brak, Norw. braakling, continuous exertion (Torp). Orig. connected with O.N. brak, cracking noise.]
