COCKIELOORIE, COCKILOORIE, n. “A name given by children to any showy flower or bright-coloured thing they play with or use” (Cai. 1905 D. B. Nicolson in County of Cai. 68, cockiloorie); any brightly-coloured ornament stuck on a hat or cap.Abd.15 1937:
That was the first and last appearance of the crest on my cap, for the boys kept shouting: “See at Jockie wi' the cockieloorie!”
