Vow me! the fun that I hae seen, When auld an' young in close convene, Ware gather'd roun' the Mortar Stane.
Abd. 1801 W. Beattie Fruits of Time Parings 5:
She's throw the snaw her leefu' lane, For Robbie Riddle, To bid him come to our conveen, An' bring his fiddle.

[O.Sc. has the verb convene, to meet, assemble, from 1429 (D.O.S.T.), but the noun use is a more recent development.]
