CORRUPTION, n. Temper, anger (Bnff.2, Abd.22, Ags.2, Fif.10 1937). N.E.D. says now colloq. or dial. in Eng.ne.Sc. a.1835 J. Grant Tales of the Glens (1836) 68:
Mains, although his corruption was nae doot sairly up, wasna sae fool-hardy as attack the auld boy i' this place o' lodgement.Fif. 1898 “S. Tytler” Mrs Carmichael's Goddesses xvi.:
The barest reference to that impudent and groundless jibe raised the “corruption” of Greenland Geordie.wm.Sc. 1835–37 Laird of Logan II. 246:
