DIRRIN, n. “A surface peat” (Abd. 1916 (per Mry.2)). Also corrupt form dirrum.Abd. 1920 A. Robb MS.:
It [a “dirrum” drain] wis ta'en oot wi' a peat spad an' that left a scarsement o' three inches on baith sides. After that they laid a close row o' dirrum sods on the scarsement.
