HJ-. This spelling occurs freq. in Sh. writers in imitation of Norwegian, to represent the common palatalisation of initial h before a vowel. See J, 2. and cf. Gj-, Kj- etc. Alternative, and in Sc. preferable, spellings are indicated in the cross-references below.
