KINVAIG, n. A small woollen plaid (m., s.Sc. 1869 Athenœum (13 March) 382).Dmf. 1830 W. Bennet Traits Sc. Life II. 211:
A kinvaig, or small woollen plaid not larger than a shawl, wrapt round the head, with its skirts spreading over the shoulders, in the form of a hood sheaf upon a stook of corn.
