KLAIVIE, n. A hollow among sand-hills caused by drifting (Ork. 1929 Marw.). [′klevi, -o]
[Orig. rather uncertain. The phonology suggests Norw. kleve, a small room, O.N. klefi, id., but for meaning cf. Norw. dial. klova, klove, a cleft, esp. between rocks, a narrow pass, Faer. kleyv, a hollow or pass in hills.]
