MAXY, n. See quot.Bnff.2 1932:
An old farmer in Fyvie said to a girl whom he was initiating into the art of hoeing turnips — singlin' — “Ye're daein' fine bit ye're leavin' some wide a maxy”, meaning by maxy the distance between individual plants along the drill.
