MEECHIE, adj. Also meechy. [′mi:çi] Mean, stingy, close-fisted (Inv. 1948; Mry., Fif., Dmb. 1962). Back-formation meech, n., a mean, greedy person (Abd.31 1962).Mry. 1915 Northern Scot (23 Oct.):
Fu' mony a merchant I could name Has gien a splendid scatter, Ae meechy ane 'at should think shame Threw naething oot bit watter.
