MOLGOGGA, n. A roller over which the messenger-rope of a herring drift-net runs to prevent friction in crossing the bulwark of the vessel.Sc. 1930 P. F. Anson Fishing Boats 16:
The warp, or “messenger rope”, to which the nets are attached, is run out over a roller. called a “molgogga”, fixed on the edge of the bulwark forward.
