NUM, n. A loaf, specif. a round loaf made of coarse flour. See Coorsie.Slg. 1869 R. Buchanan Poems (1901) 140:
“D'ye think ye could manage anither ‘coorse num' and a pint o' dook?” . . . The extra laif and the pint o' dook was sent for . . . 4 lb. o' coorse bread and 4 pints o' soor milk at ae diet wasna a bad dose.
