PATTER, v. Sc. usage: to trample (ground, etc.), beat down by constant treading (Bnff., Cld., Lth. 1880 Jam.; Ayr. 1930, Bnff. 1965). Cf. padder s.v. Pad, v.1Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 122:
