SKREINGE, n. Also skringe. Obs. Sc. forms of Eng. screen. [skriɲ]Ags. 1712 A. Jervise Land of Lindsays (1853) 341:
A skreinge with a box and a pan. A little skringe.

[The spelling seems to have been adapted from other words of Fr. derivation with orig. [ɲ]. See P.L.D. §110. O.Sc. has scringe, 1645.]
