INA. Common in Sc. as a female pet form of names of which the first element is a male name, as Georgina, Williamina. In Scot., esp. in the Highlands and I. Sc., such names were common and much more extended than in Eng., hence Alexandrina, Andrina, Davi(di)na, Donaldina, Jacobina, Jamesina, Johnina, Peterina, Robertina, Thomasina, etc. (Sh. 1951 A. T.
