SUND, n. Sh. form of Eng. sound, a strait, a narrow sea channel (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), 1914 Angus Gl.); also a narrow bay or inlet, a creek. [sund] Sh. 1898 “Junda” Klingrahool 13: O' da sund! da beautiful sund! Whaar da tide rins straught an da wind gengs roond. Sh. 1963 New Shetlander No. 67. 35: Ida sund at starts atween da Knab an Ham.
