¶UMCAST, v. To bind or wrap round, e.g. to umcast a splice, to fasten it by a wrapping of cord (Ayr. 1887 Jam.).
[The authenticity of this word is very doubtful. Phs. Oncast is meant. Connection with Mid.Eng. umbecast, to surround, O.Sc. umbecast, to ponder, consider, is unlikely.]
