ZEENDI, n. Also zeendy, zaindie (Rnf.), zeenty (Edb.), zinty (Ayr.); zid (Ork.). The numeral one, as used in sheep-counting and in children's counting-out rhymes in various parts of Scot. (Sc. 1915 P.S.A.S. XLIX. 281–2; Dmf. 1922 Rymour Club Misc. III. 108; Lnk. 1927). Obsol. since c.1920.
