Lying, vbl. n. Also: lyeing, lye(i)n, lien. [ME. liynge, lyynge (c 1380).] Lying, in various senses of Ly v.(Of persons), lying for sleep, childbirth, etc., in camp, in wait, lying out or furth or refraining or delaying in taking possession, lying aside or remaining uncommitted; (of things) lying in a place, lying unused or out of action, the ‘lie’ or nature or aspect of land, (of a ship) lying in harbour. b.
