Mank, v. Also: manck, manque. [North. ME. mank (a 1400–50): cf. late L. mancāre to mutilate, f. mancus (see Mank a.), and F. manquer (16th c. in Hatz.-Darm.) to lack, want, be deficient or wanting.]
1. tr. To mutilate, mangle; of a tailor or the like, to botch in the cutting; to deface or disfigure (any object, as a book); also, to hack, cut savagely. b. fig. Also absol.(1) c1420 Wynt. vii. 1528 (W).
