Nether, Nather, a.1 Also: nethir, -yr, -ar, neither, neythyr, neather, (nechtir); nathir, naith-, nayther. [ME. neoþere (Ancr. R.), nyþere (c 1300), neþer (14th c.), neiþer, neyþer (1387), ME. and e.m.E. nether, neither, neyther, e.m.E. neather (1590), OE. neoþera, niþera. Cf. also Ned(d)er a.] Lower, under (often in contrast to over, uver).
